    Adolf Hitler meets with his top advisers
    Hitler met with this group secretly. They discussed Hitler's strong ideas on growth and prosperity for Germany. Hitler said that in order to do so they needed the land from their neighbors. He planned to take over Austria and Czechoslovakia and turn them into the Third Reich.
  • Anschluss

    Anschluss
    German troops marched into Austria on the 12th. A day after, Germany announced that their merge with Austria was complete. No one did anything about it.

    From want for Sudetenland to Ownership of Sudetenland
    Sudetenland is the name for the mountainous regions in Czechoslovakia. In September, Hitler wanted to Annex Czechoslovakia for a couple of reasons. So, he made up stories of abuse against the Germans while he lined troops around the border. No one believed the stories. Britain and France still kept their protection on Czechoslovakia.
  • Munich Agreement

    Munich Agreement
    French premier Édouard Daladier and British prime minister Neville Chamberlain are invited to go speak with Hitler. In this meeting Hitler told them this would be his "last territorial demand". To avoid war, they believed him and signed the Munich Agreement, which gave Germany the right to Sudetenland. Afterwards Chamberlain said, "My friends, there has come back from Germany peace with honor. I believe it is peace in our time.”

    Troops were sent in to take up what was left of Czechoslovakia After, Hitler smugly said, “Czechoslovakia has ceased to exist.”. Then, still power and land obsessed, he started to fix his attention on Poland.

    This was a new military strategy being tested that day by the Luftwaffe. The term means lightening war. It involves taking the fastest tanks and biggest aircraft. They BLITZ attack their enemies and destroy them.

    By the 27th month of May, Hitler had invaded Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

    Germany and Italy invaded France. Hitler then gave France his terms of surrender, which included the Germans taking the Northern parts of France and it would be a Nazi controlled Government in the south.

    Battle of Britain
    The Germans naval power came crashing down on Britain. However, Britain was very strong. This was a long, continuous, and hard battle.

    The RAF is the Britain’s Royal Air Force. The main goal from the Luftwaffe was to take this force down. However, they were incredibly strong and fought back hard. On this day, the RAF took down 185 German aircraft while only losing 26 of their own. This made Hitler, later on, actually call of that invasion.
