German troops poured into what remained of Czechsolvokia. Hitler stated, "Czechoslovakia has seized to exsist." German dictator turned his land hungry days towards German's Easter neighbor Poland.

Hitler stated, "Germans in Poland are being mistreated by the Poles and needs my protection." But an attack on Poland might have brought an attack on the Soviet Union. It would also provoke the Decleration of War from France and Britian.

Stalin surprised everyone by signing the pact with Hitler. Germany and Communist Russia now comitted never to attack eachother. Also, Germany and the Soviet Union signed a second secret pact, agreeing to divide Poland between them. The fait of Poland was now sealed.

German arir forced roared over Poland, raining bombs on military bases, air fields, railroads, and cities. At the same time, German tanks raced across the Polish country side, speading terror and confusion.

Poland, Britain, and France decalred war on Germany. In the last week of fighting, the Soviet Union attacked Poland from the East, grabbing some of its territory. By the end of the month, Poland has ceasd to exist and WW2 had begun.

After occuping Eastern Poland, Satlin began annexing the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Stalin sent his Soviet Army in Finland.

Hitler launched a surprise invasion on Denmark and Norway. He planned to build bases along the coast to strike at Great Britian.Then, Hitler turned against the Netherlands, Belguim, and Luxenbourg, which were overrun by the end of May. At this time, the Phony War had ended.

William Shirer and the rest of the world watched as Hiitler handed French officers his terms of surrender. Germany would occupy the northern part of France and a Nazi controlled puppet government, headed by Marshall Philippe Petain, was set up at Vichy in southern France.

The Germans began to assemble an invasion fleet along the French coast. Because Britain's naval power was so great, Germany also launched an air war at the same time. The Luftwafffe began making bombing runs over Britain.

On this single day, about 2,000 German planes ranged over Britain. Every night, for two solid months, bombers pounded London. The Battle Of Britain lasted through the summer and fall. Night after night, German planes pounded British targets.

RAF shot down over 185 German planes. RAF only lost 26 aircrafts. Six weeks later, Hitler called off the invasion of Britain indefinitly. Still, German bombers continued to pound Britain's cities. British pilotes also bombed German cities, Civilains in both countries unrelentingly carried on.
