    Japan invades Manchuria
    Japan was suffering from their Great Depression. The Japanese planned to build a Pacific empire which included China. Japan invaded Manchuria, a northeast province of China, because they wanted its natural resources. This event was known to challenge the authority of the League of Nations. However, the members of the League of Nations only protested and didn’t do anything to stop Japan’s actions.

    The Treaty of Versailles stated that German troops were not allowed to enter a 30-mile-zone on both sides of the Rhine River called the Rhineland Hitler decided to take a greater risk by invading the Rhineland which he was not suppose to. Britain urged appeasement with Hitler because they do not want to be involved in another war. This event made Hitler gain more confidence and strength in achieving his goals.     Beijing and Nanjing, the capital of China during this time period, fell under the hand of Japan. This event is important because it was part of Japan’s plan to create a strong empire within Asia. China was essential to this plan.

    On November 5, 1937, Hitler announced his plan to take over Austria and Czechoslovakia in order to bulked the Third Reich which was also known to be the German Empire. The Treaty of Versailles clearly stated that the Anschluss, the union between Austria and Germany, was prohibited. But Hitler sent his army and annexed Austria.This event is important because it shows how Hitler was not afraid to defy the Treaty of VersaillesIt also portrays how the League of Nations were not keeping their promise

    On 10 May 1940, German forces annexed into Holland, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg. A few days passed, Hitler used his tanks to go through a forest near France to reach the border. The German army trapped the Allies into a city of France. The Allies escaped to the coast of France. Nonetheless, Great Britian sent out more than 850 ships to rescue them. This attack continued for several more weeks.

    Germany starts to attack Britian with a series of bombing raids. It affected many soldiers, citizens and many individuals. After three months, the Germans surrendered leaving Britain victorious. This shows that Germany can be defeated.

    On August 23, 1939, Hitler and Stalin signed the Non-Aggression pact. However, Hitler betrayed Stalin and broke the pact. Hitler decided to launch his large armies to invade USSR or Soviet Union. Stalin was shocked by this outcome and the USSR was not prepared for the invasion. This shows that Hitler's aggression is becoming worse.

    Japan attacks Pearl Harbor
    There was resistance in China which caused the war between Japan and China to continue longer. Japan were desperate for natural resources, so they went to try to European colonies in Asia to gain these valuable resources. In July 1941, President Roosevelt stopped all oil shipments to Japan because Japan was starting to conquer European colonies. Japan planned a massive attack on an American post located in the Pacific, which was Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.
