    The Mississippian Indians were the most advanced civilization.They stayed in one place (villages) due to advanced agriculture. These Native Americans had first contact with the Europeans.

    Hernando de Soto
    Hernando de Soto was a Spanish conquistador. He lead the first European expedition into what is now the United States. Him and his men traveled over 4,000 miles in search of riches.
  • Charter of 1732

    Charter of 1732
    King George signed a charter establishing the colony. The charter also created its governing board.
  • Oglethorpe Arrives

    Oglethorpe Arrives
    In 1732 King George II granted a charter for creating Georgia and Oglethorpe was one of the twenty-one trustees to govern the new colony. When Oglethorpe arrived he made a friendship with the Yamacraw chief, Tomochichi. Mary Musgrove helped Tomochichi understand the english men and she helped the english men understand the Yamacraw.

    Salzburgers Arrive
    Anyone who wasn't catholic was no longer allowed in Austria, so King George offered them refuge in the new colony. They eventually had to be moved farther north because of the mosquitoes.

    The highland Scots arrive on the northern bank of the Altamaha river. The Highland Scots were here for protection encase the Spanish tried to attack the other colonists.

    This arose from conflicts between residents of Great Britain's 13 north american colonies and the colonial government. The revolution was also caused because of the Proclamation of 1763.

    This small yet significant battle gave the colonists the confidence they needed to defeat the British.

    The point of the constitutional convention was to decide how america was going to be governed. People wanted a new government rather than fixing the one they had.
  • Georgia Ratifies Constitution

    Georgia Ratifies Constitution
    The convention had the authority to revise the Articles of confederation. The 55 delegates produced an entirely new system of governing.

    Austin Dabney
    Austin Dabney was a slave who became a private in the Georgia military. He fought against the British during the revolutionary war.
