  • Elijah Clarke and the Battle of Kettle Creek

    Elijah Clarke led to the troopos at kettle creek.Defeated a group of 800 british soilders.Patriots took needed weapons and horses; and raised the spirts of the Ga militia.Clarke, county is named after Elijah Clarke

    Americans noticed the articles of confederation. The articles gave the congress no power to taxes, and no power to regulate. Congress had to depend on money constributions from the state, and often got turned down.

    Kept the balance of slave free states. The north supported it because it limited slavery. South supported it because it kept free and slave equa .3630 line = border 2 states entered maine and Missouri.

    California wanted to be a state. It upseted the balance. North supported it because California would be a free state other than a slave.South supported it on voting on slavery & fugitive slave law.

    Term used for the forced removal of the cherokee indians from Georgia. Gen Scott used federal troops (7000) to round more than 16,000 cherokee. Many of the cherokee died from dieseases,starvation,and exposure to cold on the journey. Cherokee term the trail where they'ed died.

    Proposed by: Steven Douglas propose formation of Kansas & Nebraska. Both should choose for themselves (slavery). So much violence that Kansas nickname was bleeding Kansas.
