The first rescue party gets to the camp and 12 are dead and 48 are alive -

George Donner was too weak too travel with any of the rescue parties, so he was left behind and died before the fourth relief got there. -
The fourth relief gets there
The fourth relief arrives there, and Keseberg is the only one alive, and he is surrounded by corpses of humans.
