  • Armenian Genocide

    Armenian Genocide
    The Armenian Genocide was the systematic killing of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire during WWI. The persecutions were carried out by the Ottoman government until 1923 when they were replaced by the Republic of Turkey. Approximately 1.5 million were killed. One of the major methods of genocide used was forced marches where Armenians were forced to march for hundreds of miles whilst deprived from food and water. The victims were also raped, placed into labor battalions, and killed.
  • Holodomor

    Holodomor
    From 1932-1933, a man-made famine was brought upon the Ukranian Soviet Socialist Republic causing the death of up to10 million Ukranians. The famine was imposed by Stalin's regime with the intent to destroy the Ukranian nation. During the genocide, Stalin denied the famine to the world which prevented international aid from entering the country.
    At the height of the Holodomor, Ukranian villagers were dying at the rate of 25, 000 per day, thus reducing the Ukranian population by 25%.
  • Holocaust

    Holocaust
    The Holocaust was the systematic killing of Jewish peoples. The genocide was carried out by the Nazis and Nazi German leader, Adolf Hitler, with the intent to eliminate the Jewish race. Approximately 6 million of Europe's 8 million Jews were killed. Millions of others were killed as well if considered to be a gypsy, homosexual or disabled.Numerous concentration camps were built throughout Europe to torture, starve, gas, or kill victims.

    The Nanjing Massacre
    The Nanjing Massacre was the mass murder and war rape that occured after the Japanese had conquered Nanjing, China. Japanese soldiers brutally tortured, raped, and murdered innocent Chinese civilians. Approximately 300, 000 were killed and 80, 000 women were raped. When first invading Nanjing, Japanese troops were only told to capture and kill all Chinese soldiers, yet they later went forth into committing much more savage acts.
  • Mao Zedong's Genocide

    Mao Zedong's Genocide
    Mao Zedong was founder of the People's Republic of China and is considered to be one of the greatest mass murderers in world history, From 1958-1969, 49-79 million lives were lost due to torture and instances where civilians went missing. China wanted to economically catch up with the western world. With so much being purchased, little money was left for food and production, thus leading to famine. Mao Zedong also had the intentions of destroying Chinese family culture.
  • Cambodian Genocide

    Cambodian Genocide
    In an attempt to establish the most advanced and purist form of communism in the world, Khmer Rouge Communist Party leader, Pol Pot, brought death to nearly 25% of Cambodia's population through starvation, over extertion, and execution. Approximately 2 million Cambodians were faced with death. In 1979, the Khmer Rouge period ended as Cambodia was invaded by its former ally, Vietnam, thus leaving Cambodia under Vietnamese occupation for a decade.
  • Rwandan Genocide

    Rwandan Genocide
    The Rwandan genocide was the mass murder in Rwanda of approximately 800, 000 peoples over the time span of 100 days. Rwanda's population was composed of three ethnic groups: Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa. Hutu extremists launched plans to exterminate the entire Tutsi population. Tutsi peoples were killed in their homes and women were brutally raped. Thousands of Hutu were also murdered due to opposition of the killing campaign and the forces directing it.
  • Darfur

    Darfur
    In the ongiong genocide, African farmers and others in Darfur are being systematically murdered by the Janjaweed, a government-supported militia recruited from local Arab tribes who act almost as a group of cowboys. Approximately 300, 000 lives have been claimed so far, and hundreds continue to die each day. The Janjaweed militia have used rape, starvation, threats, and mass murder on the civilians of Darfur. Disease also continues to kill thousands every month.
