Laos Agreement
The laos agreement was an agreement on nuetrality. It was held in Geneva. It was Signed by Burma, Cambodia, Canada, China, Vietnam, France, India, Poland, Thailand, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States. They agreed to stay nuetral and not interfere with laos. -
Diem Overthrown
Ngo Dinh Diem was a vietnamese dictator. He was overthrown in 1963. He was overthrown by ARVN. They didnt think it was safe for him to be alive so they killed him. -
Kennedy Assasination
President Kennedy was assinated on Nov. 22, 1963. Lee Harvey Oswald was accussed of killing him. There were many assumptions but no one really knows who shot him. Some people even think the c.i.a. was involved. -
South Vietnamese Army Defeat
The ARVN was defeated at the village of Binh Gia. It was a 6 day battle. They lost 600 troops. There were 300 wounded troops. There were only % dead americans and 3 missing. -
Operation Masher
The largest search and destroy mission up to that point in the war. The name was switched to White Wing. It lasted all the way to March 6. It combined Vietnam soldiers and American soldiers. There were 2,389 Viet Cong casualties reported. -
Battle of the Khe San
The battle lasted until April 14th. The N. Vietnamese troops were involved. There was costant bombing going on. There was a aerial bombardment campaign launched by the U.S. Air force to support the marine base. It was a tactical victory for the Marines. -
Tet Offensive
The Tet Offensive was a military campaign during the Vietnam War that was launched on January 30, 1968. It was between the Peoples Army of Vietnam and the Republic of Vietnam. There was an agreement to cease fire but it was broken by the Viet Cong. They launched an attack that same day. -
Moon Landing
The United States was the first to land on the moon with a man. Appolo 11 was the name of the space craft that landed. Neal Armstrong was the first man to land on the moon. The soviet Union was the first to land a space craft on the moon but it didnt have a man on it. -
Wood Stock
Woodstock was a festival and a 3 day concert. It involved lots of sex, drugs, and rock n roll. It was very popular with hippies in the 1960's. It was located on a dairy farm in White Lake, New York. -
Nixon Begins Withdrawls
President Nixon announced that 50,000 U.S. troops will be pulled out of South Vietnam by April 15, 1970. This was the third time since June.Nixon made a Vietnamization program. That meant the South Vietnamese would have better training and new equipment so they could defend thereselves in the war.
