A rainy morning, at 8:30 on July 6, 1907, Magdalena Carmen Frieda Calderon was born in Coyoacan, Mexico.

She is diagnosed at the age of 6 years. She had to spend 9 months in bed. The disease affected the use of her right leg. She was left with one leg shorter and thinner than the other. It would also cause a deformation in the womb that made it impossible for her to have children.

Kahlo had an accident that marked her life when the bus she was traveling in, was hit by a tram. Frida, suffered very serious injuries to her spine and had to be immobilized for months. It is the moment in which Frida begins to paint, and the beginning of a long pain that would force her to suffer more than 35 surgical interventions.

At the age of 21, Frida married Diego after developing a relationship two years after the accident.

In October, Frida traveled to New York for her first solo exhibition at the Julien Levy Gallery, 15 East 57th St, which took place from November 1-15. 25 of her paintings were shown and half of them were sold.

Kahlo traveled to Paris in January for "Mexique", an exhibition of her work at the "Pierre Colle" gallery. It opened on March 10, where it featured Kahlo's work.

Frida's physical decline was sharper as the years passed. She suffered spinal punctures, confinement in a series of corsets, and several radical operations on her back and leg in the following decade. While she was at rest, she painted a lot, one of them was one that described that stage of life in pain.

Lola Alvarez Bravo organized the first solo exhibition of Frida's work in Mexico. The exhibition was open from April 13 to 27 of the same month at the Contemporary Art Gallery. Throughout the exhibition, she was in bed, her illness didn't allow her to do much.

She died in her house, Casa Azul, on July 13, 1954. The house was named that way, because when Kahlo lived with Diego Rivera, they decided to paint it blue.

The family home where Kahlo was born and grew up, later referred to, as the Blue House or Casa Azul, was opened as a museum on July 30, 1958. The house was presented to the Mexican people in accordance with the wishes of Diego Rivera.
