    The fight between France and Great Britain over disputed land and it ended with the treaty of Paris. The colonists didn’t believe that the soldiers needed to be there still

    The Sugar Act increased taxes on sugar and decreased the taxes on molasses in the 13 colonies and it restricted smuggling. The Colonists were not very happy they protested and the quote “No taxation without representation” became popular.

    This act required colonists to pay taxes on various paper products that had stamps on them. The colonists boycotted British goods as well at attacked tax collectors.

    The Declaratory Act

    This repealed the stamp act but it gave Britain the power to essential control the American Colonies. The colonists weren’t really affected because they were too busy celebrating their “victory”.

    The Townshend Act

    Charles Townshend proposed the idea of these new taxes and this act also was stricter on smuggling. The colonists again boycotted and this time the Daughters of Liberty were involved as well.

    This act made it so that the colonist could only get tea from certain merchants and it wasn’t even good tea. The colonists dressed up as Indians and dumped all the tea in the ocean one night.

    This was the war the granted America their independence. The colonists were happy because Britain’s rule was horrible.
