    Laws passed by democrat-controlled southern states in 1865. They were made to restrict African American freedoms. Also making them work for low wages.

    Passed in jan 31 1865 but wasn't ratified until dec 6 1865. The 13th amendment to the united states constitution provides neither slaver nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime.
