    With an intimate understanding of the differences technology can make in one's ability to get ahead in the millennium global arena, Merry Go Round Children's Foundation was founded by Scott Paterson and John McMahon to help 'turn on learning.'

    Merry Go Round Successfully Distributes Computers and Partners with TPS
    In the first year of the program, 21 computers were distributed to financially disadvantaged families with students in the Peel District School Board. With relationships nurtured within the Toronto District School Board however, 28 more computers were dispersed to the homes of financially disadvantaged children in Regent Park. From this evolved a new mentor component of the program which relies heavily on close relationships with Toronto Police Service.

    Kids, Cops & Computers is Launched
    After a successful distribution of 49 home computer systems and Interent dial-ups, Merry Go Round was ready for a full-scale launch of its community outreach rogram: Kids, Cops & Computers. Mr. Paterson secured four founding partners to launch the Program: Rogers, IBM Canada, Microsoft and CDI College.

    eBuddies
    Merry Go Round distributes new computers to 100 families and the eBuddy component of program is established. Through eBuddy mentorship, a healthy relationship between kids and police is established. This relationship motivates students to reach their fullest potential.

    Merry Go Round Holds First 'Go For It!' Awards
    The awards event celebrates the outstanding commitment and contribution of the students and officers participating in the Kids, Cops & Computers program. Two students received 'Paterson Scholarships' for continuing education. Outstanding police officers were also named 'eBuddies of the Year' for their extraordinary commitement.

    Rogers Becomes a Strategic Partner
    Rogers supplied free Internet to those kids who did not have an existing connection.
  • "Go for It" event is renamed "Inspiration!"

    "Go for It" event is renamed "Inspiration!"
    The 'Go for It' awards celebration is renamed to 'Inspiration!' The event is held annually to celebrate the accomplishments of first-year Kids, Cops & Computers students.

    Year of Expansion
    In the 2010-2011 school year, Kids, Cops & Computers distributed 214 brand new computers to deserving students and more than doubles the number of schools helped.

    7th Annual Celebrity Sports Mixer
    MGR holds its 7th Annual Celebrity Sports Mixer, which was a great success.
    Bright lights in attendance, included Johnny Bower, Dion Phaneuf and Peter Sloly, Deputy Chief, Toronto Police Service.

    Star athletes, along with leaders in policing and entertainment, attended Merry Go Round Children's Foundation's Inspiration 2011 celebration. With speeches were made by former Canadian Idol judge Farley Flex, Rhythmic Gymnast Alexandra Orlando, and Kids, Cops & Computers alumni Ashley Juchawski this was an Inspiration to remember!

    MGR kick starts its launches of the 2011-2012 school year at St. Andrew Catholic School year, with the intention of connecting 300 students this school year.

    MGR celeberates its last launch. In 2011-2012 we made difference in the lives of 300 kids in Toronto by providing them with brand-new laptops.

    Athletes, broadcasters and prominent names in policing and business light up the Hockey Hall of Fame, February 26th when they came together in support of Merry Go Round Children’s Foundation’s Kids, Cops & Computers program.

    Students, teachers, police and Kids Cops & Computers Board members and supporters gathered at the Toronto Pavilion and celebrated 400 students successfully completing the KCC program. Nalini Sharma and Nathan Downer from CP24 did an amazing job as the Masters of Ceremonies. Farely Flex moved the crowd with his “Making a Difference” presentation. Keynote speaker, Shane Feldman shared his personal story about why and how he started Count Me In, which encouraged the students to strive for more.
