    Supreme Court ruled that segregation in public schools was illegal & overturned Plessy v Ferguson which allowed for separate but equal segregation. Brown v Board paved the way for the Civil Rights Movement & was used in many cases to destroy Jim Crow. This was a government to promote racial justice.

The 24th Amendment prohibited the use of poll taxes, but unfortunately several states still used poll taxes. The Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act would help African-Americans gain enfranchisement.
