    How football was created

    China military used to play a game which was originally called TSU CHU, that involved kicking a leather ball stuffed with fur into a small hole, like soccer, no hands were permitted during the game and then this game was changed to soccer later on in the years.

    First ever game of football played in England.

    The first football game was played in Britain was between the locals of East of England, starting after a legendary game that involved kicking around the severed of the Danish prince that they had defeated in the war.

    Italian football

    In Italy they played a game called "calico" with teams of 27+ people. The game involved kicking, carrying or passing a ball across a goal line. In 1580, Giovanni Bardi published a set of rules of the game of calico.
  • Eton College started to bring in rules in 1815

    In 1815, Eton College, one of the most well known public schools, started to bring in the rules of football to their school, they brought in rules such as, offside rule, kicking off from the centre and dribbling and passing forward.
  • Handball rule was brought in

    The Football Association rules were further amended to exclude any handling of the ball. This rule was brought in to make footballers become better with their feet, and make it easier for the opponents to have a chance to get the ball and make their team attack.
  • First international match was played

    The first official international football match was played, between the national teams of Scotland and England, played in Glasgow Scotland. The game was played on 30 November 1872, and finished with a 0-0 draw
  • Uniform introduced

    The four British associations agreed on a uniform code and formed the International Football Association Board, the International Football Association brought in Uniforms to let both sides know who was for who.
  • Penalties Introduction

    Introduction of the penalty kick was introduced so if a foul was given in the corner of the box, it wouldn't been given as a free, it would be brought to the penalty spot and easier for the team to score.
  • Soccer added to olympic games for first time

    Soccer was brought into the Olympic Games in 1900, teams formed from different countries around the world and created a team, which is just like an international match, there was teams in it such as Brazil, USA, England etc. Mexico won the last Olympic games soccer for the men's and the woman's winners was The USA
  • Goalkeepers banned from handing the ball outside the penalty box

    Goalkeepers are banned from handing the ball outside the penalty box to make the game more fun and to give the opposition a chance to run through on goal instead of the keeper running out of the box to pick it up.
  • Offside Rule

    The offside rule is changed, a player is now onside if a minimum of two(instead of three) of the opposition are between him and the goal line. This has also been reduced to the one as it makes the game fair so the opposition has a chance.
  • Shirt Numbers

    In 1939, shirt numbers are made compulsory for each individual player on the squad, as the referee needs to be able to know who you are by what number you are wearing and if he does not know your name, he can mark the number on the notebook and research later to make sure he gets the players name.
  • Back pass rule applied

    The back pass ruled is applied to the game that is football to give the strikers a chance to get the ball if the defender passes the ball back, and the keeper lifts the ball, the referee will blow for an indirect free kick and that will at least give a striker a chance to get the ball rather than the goalkeeper picking it up straight away.
  • Stoke City relocate

    After a long record, 119 years at the Victoria Ground, Stoke decided it was a time for a change, and decided to make the stadium bigger, and better to allow more fans to come and support Stoke City. Stoke relocated to the 28,000 seated Britannia Stadium, Stoke moved to the Britannia Stadium, not only because the pitch was better but because they're were thousands upon thousands of seats available.
