The Louisiana Purchase more than doubled the size of Country this was a big deal at the time. He also sent Lewis and Clark to explore this land and report back to him.

    The Louisiana Purchase more than doubled the growing country of the United States. It was bought by Thomas Jefferson from France. It was bought at four cents an acre with 530,000,000 acres.

    This was where many Indian tribes were forced to vacate their land at gun point by officers, that were told to do this by the current president Andrew Jackson. The Cherokee tribe went to court over this, and won but Andrew Jackson did it anyway. It is called the Trail of Tears because there was so much crying over lost loved ones.

    In 1848 a gold rush began. This had people full of hope that this land was promising gold. People flocked to California for the precious yellow metal. This brought many who were hungry for action and money.
