    A doctor in Florida created the Cookie diet. The cookies were meal replacements and made with a blend of amino acids.
  • Slim fast

    Slim fast was invented and was supposed to be used as a meal replacer for breakfast and lunch. This was supposed to be followed by a sensible dinner. It was created by S. Daniel Abraham.
  • Atkins Diet

    Robert C Atkiins, MD made the Atkins diet famous. It was a high protein, low carb plan that focused on eating a lot of meat and fats.
  • Zone diet

    This was created by Barry Spears. He thought that we are still hunter/gatherers and need to go back to doing that. He thought meal structure was more important than calorie count. The nutrients were broken down into blocks and the plans were based off of that.
  • Macrobiotic diet

    Gwyneth Paltrow started a trend with this Japanese plan. It is based on 40-60% of your diet being organic whole grains and locally grown vegetables for the rest. No soda, alcohol, caffeine, etc. Limit processed foods, refined sugars, meats, and non organic food.
