  • Battle of Mons

    This was a battle between British & German forces, Allies clashed with Germany on the French border. Britain attempted to hold the line of the Mons- conde canal against German Advance. Small British Expeditionary force slowed german advance.
  • Battle of Marne

    This battle went for 12 days and was a battle between French and German forces that saw the end of the Schlieffen plan. Germany's army was weakened due to lack of supply and removal of 2 divisions to go to germany and prussia. The British Expeditionary Force (BEF) advanced when Germany had a gap between troops, Germans withrew to the Aisne river. It marked the end of the German sweep into France and the beginning of the trench warfare that was to characterise WW1. It saved Paris from Capture.
  • Battle of Ypre

    This battle continued until the 22nd November. It was the end of the battle of the race to the sea. It was in Ypre, Western Belgium. Ypres was the last obstacle to the German advance, and British army wanted to secure English channel ports and British army supply lines. This was a british victory.
