  • 1st Generation

    1st Generation
Created by Apple, this first iPod Nano was created as an upgrade from the iPod Mini. It was marketed by Steve Jobs as the perfect size to fit in the small pocket of your jeans. It ultimately was recalled due to battery overheating issues and was replaced with the same generation iPod or newer.
  • 2nd Generation

    2nd Generation
This newer model featured a scratch resistant screen and anodized aluminum casing. The 2nd gen was also made available in an array of colors appealing to more customers. The display was also 40% brighter and this model had an improved battery life.
  • 3rd Generation

    3rd Generation
This generation most resembled the iPod Classic in it's shorter and heavier design. It included new colors, and features such as a new interface, video playback, and supoort for iPod games. This model combined features from previous generations such as an aluminum face plate and a stainless steel back plate.
  • 4th Generation

    4th Generation
Was supposedly the most environmentally friendly iPod Apple has ever made. The 4th gen has a bigger display, thinner body, and a curved aluminum frame all appealing to the customers. This iPod also features motion contols, like shaking the devicce to shuffle songs. Among many other changes and improvements, the 4th generation definitely appealed more towards the consumer than any model before.
  • 5th Generation

    5th Generation
This generation featured a larger and wider screen as the demand for bigger displays continue to grow. It integrated a video camera, FM radio, with iTunes tagging. In addition it also included a pedometer and a speaker, all things geared towards the demand from the customer. This model also included an array of colors but with a more sleek design.
  • 6th Generation

    6th Generation
The biggest and most substancial improvement to this model was the bigger and square touch screen Apple put into the 6th generation iPod Nano. Firmware updates made the device more improved, but the main feature that catches the customers attention, is that touch screen. As more phones began to include these touch screens it was a smart move for Apple to include it in their iPod lines as well. It also was a much smaller device as the iPod Nano 6th generation only includes the screen.
  • 7th Generation

    7th Generation
Not much change to the storage of this device, however Apple has made their thinnest iPod yet with the 7th generation of the iPod Nano. One of the biggest improvements, it is bluetooth capable and having it able to work with wireless headphones. Making this device current with the trends and keeping it up to date with the customers demand, and adding to the ease of use of the iPod.
