Samuel Simon

1907

In 1907, Samuel Simon of England was awarded a patent for using silk fabric as a printing screen. Using materials other than silk has a long history behind it that begins with the art of stenciling used by the Egyptians and Greeks in 2500 B.C.

Chester Carlson

1938

“In 1938, Chester Carlson invented a dry printing process called electrophotography, commonly called a Xerox. The foundation technology for laser printers to come.”

Remington-Rand

1953

In 1953, Remington--Rand developed a high-speed printer to use on the Univac computer

Transfer Printing

1957

In 1957, the transfer printing technique was discovered

Gerber Scientific

1960

In the 1960s, Gerber Scientific produces plotters for printed circuit boards

Inkjet Printer

1976

In 1976, the inkjet printer was created, but it took until 1988 for it to become a consumer item with the Hewlett-Packard release of the LaserJet4, at a price of $1,000
