2nd Generationn iPod Classic
Apple released the second generation of the iPod Classic. The capacity of went from 5 Gigabytes to 10-20 Gigabytes. The scroll wheel was made touch-sensitive rather than mechanical and the hold switch was improved and redesigned. -
Third Generation iPod Classic
More improvements.The third generation was thinner than the previous two models. No more FireWire port. Now, a dock connector. This IPod changed to a touch wheel and put the four buttons play/pause, menu, forward, and backward in a row right underneath the screen and increased the capacity to between 10-40 Gigabytes. -
iPod Mini
Apple iPod Mini released. This IPod was incredibly smaller than the IPod classic. It also had a lot less capacity with only 4 Gigabytes -
Fourth Generation iPod Classic
Fourth iPod Generation Classic released. The only major change was an improvement in the touch wheel. -

Apple iPod Photo released. This IPod was very similar to the Fourth Generation classic but had capabilities to store and view pictures. -

Apple released the iPod shuffle. The IPod shuffle was an inexpensive way to have an IPod. The shuffle was very cheap and only had a capacity of .5-1 Gigabytes. The shuffle did not have a screen, it played all of the songs in the library randomly. -

The second generation Nano changed the casing to a kind of aluminum so it was more scratch resistant. The capacity of the second generation Nano is 2-8 Gigabytes. The second generation shuffle is less than half the size of the first shuffle. It also has the option to turn the shuffle on or off. -

iPod Touch released! The IPod Touch was like nothing Apple has every created. The IPod Touch has a touch screen that you can download and play games, access the Internet, email, and many other things. The IPod Touch became a huge hit because no one has seen anything like it before.
