BASIC and LOGO programming language developed. Overhead projector used to enhance teaching/learning.. MT/ST (Magnetic Tape/Selectric Typewritter) developed. Liquid paper invented.

    The 1970's
    Educational technology redefined and expanded to include all technologies. Scantron- automatically graded multiple choice examples developed. This was a great help to teachers. Email invented. Books and public domain documents put online. E-book invented. Students and teachers with internet access now exposed to a wider variety of media. PBS educational programming started.
  • The 1980's

    The 1980's
    • The P.C. appeared and the digital age began in full. The Apple Macintosh computer is developed. Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing is developed and popularized in schools. This made using the computer more efficient. Laptops are developed and used as teaching tools. Computers were and still are a great resource for teaching and learning, storage of information and communication.
  • The 1990's

    The 1990's
    CD-ROM disks become the new kind of storage. Only a small fraction of schools have internet access. Instructional web pages are created by faculty. SMART boards introduced in schools. Blogging began. Google is established. Web Quests are developed for classrooms worldwide. Google is an invaluable source of information.
    SMART boards made teaching easier and captivated learners interest. Teachers used blogs to share their experiences and be in contact with others worldwide.

    The 2000's
    Most schools have internet access. Professional development training for teachers is offered. Teachers plan lessons to integrate technology into classrooms. Wikipedia is established. YouTube is started. Audience-response devices developed. Podcasts became popular. Wiki became a source of information and podcasts were used to share lessons and other information. You can learn to do almost anything on YouTube.

    Most students use the internet daily in the U.S. iPads are provided by schools. 90% of students have access to mobile technology. Technology is an integral part of teaching and learning. Interactive mobile apps can be used for learning. Interactive apps cover a wide field and students can use them to learn from reading to mathematics to science.
  • The future- 2020

    The future- 2020
    In the future I think there will be-
    1. Biometrics- a technology that recognizes people based on physical or behavioral traits. It could be used to recognize the physical and emotional disposition of students so that lessons can be altered to suit individual needs.
    2. Multi-touch surfaces- although already used in phones/tablets, it can advance to be used on desks or workstations. This can help students collaborate and allow for videos and other tools to be streamed directly to the surface,
