The Mexican American War.
America and Meixco both wanted the island. It is close to both countries. A big war was started. They fought many battles for years. America won a lot, but they were also defeated many times. There were many important battles that occured, but after 6 ears they had a huge battle. Halfway through the Mexicans offered the Americans sa peace treaty, it said that they would stop fighting and the people that wanted to ccould come and try and help make this island it's own country. America agreed. -

On March 1st 1871 ater the 6 years of fighting, the war was over. On March 1st 1781, the peace treaty was signed. -
Everett was chosen as the name.
On August 29th the peopkle who were helping start his country agreed on named the country Everett. They didn't have a rreason they just thought Everett was a good name they all agreed on. -
Everett becomes a country.
On November 16th Everett officially became a country. On that day the person who's idea it was to make this island it's own country ,Jaun, was elected president, beacuase it was his idea to make this a country and he had a Founding Document already written and prepared. -
Volcano
On December 26th a volcano erupted, luckily not much damage was done, but it did leave them worried it would happen again. It never did though. The volcano errupeted the day after Christmas so they named it Christmas.
