    Sugar Act
    Helped raised money for Britain. It mostly hurt shipping businesses in the New England Colonies.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    It put a tax on as many papers items in the colonies. Newspapers, legal documents, and playing cards had to have a stamp to show that they’re paid for.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    It taxed imports like glass, tea, paint, and paper. It set up a new group of tax collectors.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Anger between the colonists and the British soldiers. British destroyed colonial property.

    Townshend Acts were partially repealed except for the tax on tea.

    It passed the Tea Act. Gave Britain’s East India Company monopoly.

    British General Thomas Gage sent 700 soldiers to destroy guns and ammunition the colonists had stored in the town of Concord, just outside of Boston.
