Events that led to the Constitution

  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The British passed a law that put tax on sugar, wine, and other important items. The reason was for money in which they used to get more security for the colonists. The security was expensive bacause the indians and the fights with foreign powers.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    Colinests were rebelous of the Britishes new laws. They were throwing snowballs and stones at Britian soldiers in Boston. Soldiers were set to fire at the civilians. Three were killed on the scene and five were injured in which two later died. The Captain and eight soldiers were sent to prison. Later the captain and all but two soldiers were releced and labeled as convicts. The other two soldiers were guilty of manslaughter.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    Colinests were protesting againts tax on tea. In result they dressed up as indians and dumped 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor. Today that is millions of dollars worth of tea. Because of this, parliment passed laws that closed Boston Harbor until the colonists cleaned and payed for what they did. They also passed laws that limited the freedom of the colonists. These laws are known by the colonists as intolorable acts.
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    This was one of the first major battles of the revolutionary war. The hill the battle took place oin was Breeds HIll not Bunker Hill. The battle lasted two days resulting in a costly victory for the British. This made them realize that the war would be very hard and expensive.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris ended the war. It was signed in Paris by Benjimin Franklin. It recognized the independence of the new nation, the United States of America. It also made new boarders and sent British troops out of the new nation
