roosevelt and churchhill found out americans opposed intervention. they did not want to fight and go to war. they felt they would stay out of it and be safe. but roosevelt and churchill had other plans. so they made them fight. -

president franklin roosevelt talked bad about japans aggression. he talked about the "reign of terror and international lawlessness". he did not like that they were bombing innocent people. he described it as acts of cruelty. he warned everyone about what was happening and could happen later. -

japan attacked without a declaration of war. their planes caused terror on chineese cities. it was mainly on shanghia and nanjing.they even killed three american sailors. it happend when japanese warplanes were sinking ships. -

congress passed the neutrality act in 1939. it included cash and carry provision. it allowed them to buy goods and arms in the united states. they had to pay in cash and carry the merchendice on their ships. lots of people disagreed with this act. -

british and french take action
british and french leaders took action about everything hitler was doing. they vowed to not let hitler take over another country. they signed an alliance with poland. it said if they got attacked poland had their back. then germany signed with the nazi soviet in 1939 august 23rd. -
axis powers
the axis powers included germany, italy, japan, and lots of other nations. this alliance failed when people didnt hold up there deal. germanys nonagression act freed hitler to send his army west. germany attacked denmark and norway. the 2 countrys fell almost immeditly. -
france falls to hitler
france fell to hitler in 35 days. then he went after britain. they had an evacuation and churchill made it clear there would be an appeasment.he told his people they will fight to the end. they will come out successful and alive. -
europe shocks americans
eurpoe had a very strick neutrality policy. americans did not like this but couldnt do anything. they got ripped off and lost money because of it. they were mad but wernt going to take them to war. it wasnt that big of a deal to them. -

roosevelt spoke about four freedoms. it included freedom of speech. it had freedom of worship. and also freedom of fear and then freedom from want. they ment alot to alot of people. it was a bigdeal to every american. -

an atlantic charter reinforced americans when they were in war. they brought support to them when they needed it most. it was a main reason the americans were successful in war. they had great allies and they were very reliable. they coulkd always count on them.
