General P.G.T. Beauregard, commander of the Confederate forces ordered an open fire upon Fort Sumter. The next day the fort surrendered and the fort was evacuated.

40,000 CSA soilders poured out of the near by woods and attacked a line of Union soilders near the Tennessee River. The CSA surrounded the Union troops and killed, capured, and/or criticailly injured them.

Jackson practically forced Pope's army into battle by ordering an attack of one of the Federal columns. In result Pope launched a series of assults against Jackson's position. Shortly after a lot of fighting, the Confederate army finally won a battle of once.

Burnside was the commander of the army at the time, and sent a corps to occupy the vicinity of Falmouth, the rest of the army fallowed shorty after. Lee order his army to go to the heights behind the towm. Union engineers put down 5 pontoon bridges across the Rappahannock River while being openly fired at. The next day the Federal Army crossed over and the day after that Burnside ordered an attack on the Union troops on Prospect Hill.

Jackson and 30,000 Confederates followed the route to the Union and attacked. The Confederate attack ended with the wounding of Jackson. Lee defeated sepeate part of the Union. Lee's victory was considered his greatest victory of the entire war.

Gen. Robert E. Lee concertrated his army aorund Gettysburg, PA, waiting for the aproach of the Union'forces. Lee struck th e Union line resulting in severe fighting. Lee's second invasion of the North failed.

Gerneral Bragg and his army of 52,000 Confederates, marched north and fought with the Union cavarly. This battle was mostly trying to get the Confederates out of Chattanooga.

The Union had bombardment of Chattanooga. Sending a message to the Confederates saying that they could mount assults if they wanted. This was obvously a Union win.

Meade attempted to steal a march through the forest, and strike the Confederate army. After dark, Lee prepared the field. The next day the Union closed in on the Confederates.Meade saw the Confederate line was too long and strong, so he retired.

The Union reached the Cold Harbor on June 1st. By the 2nd both armies were on the feild. They fought. Then Grant and his army headed for Petersburg to threaten them.

Gerneral Robert E. Lee surrendered to Gerneral Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House. Tis was often called the end of the Civil War. When actually many other Confederate armies stayed in battles.

John Wilkes Booth stopped by Ford's theatre and heard that the president and Gerneral Grant was also there watching a play of Our American Cousin. He had threaten to kill Lincon before but no one took him seriously until Grant left and Booth shot Lincon in the back of the head in front of his wife, in plain sight in a packed theatre.
