    This was a law that was passed that was to try and solve the problem of slavery in the Western territories.
    People began to flood into Kansas and Nebraska.

    This is when a lot of people died in Kansas.
    There was a small scale civil war.

    Dred Scott was a slave that sued fo his freedom.
    The court ruled that since he was a slave, he could not sue.

    Lincoln and Douglas were running for Senator of Illinois.
    Lincoln lost but became nationally famous.
  • Harper's Ferry

    Harper's Ferry
    John Brown led a raid on Harper's ferry.
    He did this to stir up a slave revolt in Virginia and to end slavery.

    Lincoln promised to stop the spread of slavery. The south would secede if Lincoln won. Lincoln won, the south seceded. They formed the Confederate States of America and elected Jefferson Davis as their president.
