  • Albany Congress

    A meeting of colonial leaders,
    in Albany,
    held by the British,
    they were expecting war to break out soon,
    they were hoping to form an alliance with the Iroquois,
    Benjamin Franklin was involved.

  • Treaty of Paris

    Britain and France signed the treaty of Paris,
    France lost almost all of its North American land,
    it was signed in Paris,
    Britain received a lot of land from France and Spain
  • Period: to

    Pontiac's War

    the British won,
    Pontiac and his followers destroyed over a half a dozen British forts,
    and killed over 2000 backcountry settlers,
    they also killed Native Americans who didnt attack them
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Britain started it to avoid more war after Pontiac. It banned settlements west of the Appalachain Mountains. It made a lot of colonists angry. It was ignored. It proved impossible to enforce.
  • Tea Act

    The British Parliament passed the tea act, intending to help the East India Company, it lowered the price of tea in the colonies but the colonists did not like it because it gave the East India Company a monopoly on tea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    A group called The Sons Of Liberty were so outraged they threatened captains shipping tea. They dressed as Indians and dumped over a million dollars worth of tea into Boston harbor.

    This took place in Philadelphia.
    Thomas Jefferson, John Hancock, and Benjamin Franklin all attended. Most colonists didnt favor independence. However some were ready to fight for it.
