John Brown led a raid on Harper's Ferry in Virginia. He became a hero in the cause of slavery. -
Election of 1860
Presidential election where Lincoln promised to keep slavery from spreading into new territories. The South threatened to secede is Lincoln was elected. -
Fort Sumter
The first battle of the Civil War. The south opened fire and the Union had to surrender.
