    Armed conflict between The United States and Mexico. Mainly fought because Mexico beleived annexation of Texas was part of their territory. The U.S. won in the capture of Mexico City.

    One of the major events leading to the civil war. Would have baned slavery in any teritorry to be acquired from Mexico in the Mexican war. David Wilmont first introduced this in the United States House of Representative in 1846.

    Harriet Stowe wrote a novel on anti-slavery named Uncle Tom's Cabin. It was the best selling novel of the 19th century. In the first year it was published, it sold 300,000 copies. One million copies were sold in Great Britain.
