    French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War was fought over the Ohio River Valley. The British and their American colonies and Native allies and the French and their Native allies both wanted control over the valley, and Canada. The war ended in a British victory, which led to the Proclamation Line and taxes on the colonies for the war.

    Sugar Act

    The sugar act was set on the colonists to help pay for the French and Indian War and the soldiers still in North America "protecting" the colonies. Patriots protested and the loyalists looked upon them with disgust.

    Stamp Act

    The Stamp act set taxes on almost every paper item in the colonies, from legal papers to playing cards. Like the Sugar Acts, these acts were for raising money to pay for the military
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was about the protesting outside of the customs building on King Street. Colonial protesters were insulting the British Officers guarding the building, and at one point they started to attack them, so the soldiers fired their weapons and killed 5 people. Later, the Officers were put on trial and the two who killed the men were convicted of manslaughter, and their punishment was the loss of their thumbs.

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party wasn't a tea party at all. It was a riot over the taxation of tea in the colonies. Patriotic colonists dressed as Mohawk Indians went aboard the ship and threw $1,000,000 worth of tea into Boston Harbor. Exactly 342 crates full of tea were thrown overboard. In response to this event, Britain closed Boston Harbor, one of the biggest harbors in the colonies.

    The Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were made as a punishment for the Boston Tea Party, consisting of 5 different acts, all made for the punishment of the colonies. Starting with the Boston Port act, which shut down Boston Harbor until the colonies paid for the $1,000,000 of tea lost. Then, the Massachusetts Government Acts were brought into play, which made meetings illegal in Massachusetts. Next, the Administration of Justice Act was placed to have trials held in Britain and have soldiers get off easy.

    The Intolerable Acts Pt. 2
    Then, the Quartering Act was made an it meant that colonists had to feed and house any soldiers whom said they needed somewhere to stay for the night. Lastly, the Quebec Act was played and that meant that the Canadian border was expanded in the colonies of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Virginia which meant that the colonies would lose their right to the natural resources beyond that border.

    The First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress was a meeting of the 55 delegates from the 13 colonies to discuss what they would do in reaction to the acts placed upon them. They decided to 1st send a letter to King George listing their proposal, then, they make militias to fight soldiers if needed.
