Events Leading to the American Revolution

  • The French and Indian War Begins

    The French and Indian War Begins
    This war was between the French and the Indians. The enemy was the British. The reason for this war was to keep the territory of Canada and possessions. The British were victorious in this war. The war ended with the Treaty of Paris. The reason this event helped lead to the American Revolution was because fighting this war caused great debt for England so they had to create high taxes for the colonies.

    This act required that colonists house British troops in their homes when needed. This helped cause the American Revolution because colonsists felt it was unfair that they needed to house soliders.

    This act was passed sometime in 1767 and placed taxes on tea, paper, paint, glass, and lead. The colonists were very angry about these acts and protested. It was repearled except for their tax on tea. This act helped lead to the American Revolution because it caused colonists to feel like their rights were being violated.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    During this event, some angry colonists were throwing snowballs, rocks and sticks at the british soliders and the soliders opened fire on the colonists killing some of them. This event helped cause the American Revolution because it greatly angered the colonists and made them feel that the British soliders were harming their citizens.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Some colonists dressed up as Indians and snuck onto a boat in the Boston harbor. They dumped a lot of British tea and also boycotted the British tea. This help in the repeal of the Tea tax. This event help lead to the American Revolution by inspiring the colonists to rebel.
