    A. The cause of the war was land. English colonists wanted to expand the West.
    B. It was the the British against the French and Indians. Was the bloodiest American War in 18th century. Started out when George Washington went out onto Ohio River to deliver a message to French to withdraw the land, ending with an answer of no.The British collapsed after the many years of fatigue.
    C. The British and Indians won the war. France had to give up most of their land.

    A. The Proclamation of 1763 was a document that reserved land west of the Appalachian mountains for Indians.
    B. This effected colonists because they were upset that they had to give up land they found
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    A. Prime Minister George Grenville was responsible for the Sugar Act.
    B.This law taxed sugar and molasses. Colonies were taxed on this so England could pay the war debt.
    C. Significance was that smugglers were taken to British courts, resulting of an unfair trial.
    D. Colonists response was to protest British Parliament. Led by Samuel Adams, the Sons of Liberty.

    Stamp Act
    A. British Parliament was responsible for the Stamp Act.
    B. This law was an official government stamp required on all documents. Colonists had to pay taxes on every piece of paper they purchased.
    C. Colonists respond with violent acts and mobs. Their was a Stamp Act Congress to discuss it. They said that British Parliament can't tax them without representation in Parliament.

    Townshend Acts
    A. The person responsible for the Townshend Acts was Charles Townshend.
    B. This law taxed goods such as lead, paper, glass and tea from England. It also introduced the Writs of Assistance, which aloud soldiers to go into colonists homes to search for smuggled goods without warrant.
    C. Colonists saw this as an over abuse of power of England

    Boston Tea Party
    A. The Sons of Liberty were responsible for the Boston tea party.
    B. The taxes on tea and British laws caused the Boston Tea Party.

    1) The Sons of Liberty dressed up as Natives and threw 342 chests of tea into the Boston harbor.
    2) 92,000 pounds of tea were dumped into the harbor.
    D. The British responded to this by passing the Intolerable Acts.

    Intolerable Acts
    A.The Intolerable Acts mostly affected Boston because these acts closed the Boston harbor, this caused a problem for trading and shipping goods.
    B.These laws were made to punish colonists by closing ports, causing them to pay for soldiers necessities and suspended rights to self govern.
    C.The committee of correspondence was made to send letters detailing the laws. The first Continental Congress was held to talk about the Intolerable Acts.

    C.This was set up to discuss a response and plan of action to the Intolerable Acts.

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    A.British troops wanted to seize colonists arms but Paul Revere & the Sons of Liberty warned the colonists
    i. The British were after a stockpile of hidden guns and ammunition
    ii. Redcoats and minutemen fought against each other at this battle.
    iii. 8 colonists were killed and 0 redcoats were killed.

    Was signed July 4th, 1776
    This document officially said that all the colonies were coming together to become Americans and break away from England. It also is one of the most important documents that forms our current government.
    This document had many arguments and grievances of what the British government did unfairly to colonists.
