    For the diggers in the Australian gold field are finding that the fees for a license are to expensive and unfair. The diggers that are struggling to discover gold are finding the fees even more expensive.
  • Hotham arrives

    Lt Governor Sir Charles Hotham arrives in Victoria. He had a high power, and was in a lot of debt. He ordered several license checks in hope that some of the money from the fines,that the diggers with no license payed, would cover his debts.
  • James Scobie Murder

    James Scobie is murdered outside the Eureka Hotel. Scobie was a gold digger from Ballarat. He was murdered by James Bentley but there was a 'lack of evidence' for the court to convict him of the charges. His death along with several other events lead to the Eureka Rebellion, or the Eureka Stockade.
  • Eureka Hotel is burned down

    A gathering of 10,000 diggers is held near the Eureka Hotel, to protest against the courts decision to allow Bentley to walk free. The outcome of the gathering is the Eureka Hotel getting burned down. Unable to settle the crowd police forces, call in the military.
