1990: This case came into place to acknowledge the federal support of sponsored research of transitioned services from high school to post secondary education adult living for students with disabilities. The final court ruling was to acknowledge that the students needed individualized instruction in education. The historical legal rulings of IDEA provides the students the right to special education needs in a public school environment.

2004: This law was able to support the amount of students with disabilities and increase their ability in the education public system. In the final court ruling the students were able to participate in all state accountability programs. The historical legal ruling was to benefit the student's education by having high qualified personnel to instruct the students and aid to their specific individual needs.
