    In 1931, the Japanese invaded Manchuria to attempt to gain control of the country, and to eventually surround all of East Asia. This event was one of the causes of World War II.
  • • Mussolini (Italy) conquers Ethiopia.

    •	Mussolini (Italy) conquers Ethiopia.
    On October 3rd, 1935 Ethiopia was attacked by Italy, witout a declaration of war. Four days later, the League of Nations declared Italy as an aggressor, a nation that attacks first, Italian troops fell back until December of that year.

    •	Britain’s Neville Chamberlain and Hitler meet at the Munich Conference.
    Neville Chamberlain met Hitler at his house in Berchtesgaden in September 1938. Hitler threatened to invade Czecholovakia unless Britain supported Germany's plans to takeover Sudetenland. Neville Chamerblain told Hitler that his suggestion was unacceptable. Hitler was suggested to hold a four-power conference with Germany, France, Britain and Italy. It was agreed that Germany could have Sedetenland. The Munich Agreement was signed on September 29th, 1938.

    Franco took over Madrid after 3 years of fighting. On April 1st, 1939 the Republican forces surrendered to the Nationalist forces. Franco established his govenment as the official government of Spain.

    When Hitler invaded Poland, it took less than a month for him and his Nazi troops to take control of the whole country. He used the new technique Blitz Krige to surprise the enemy. First planes bombed Poland then tanks and artillery took over finally ground troops were sent in.
