  • Konrad Zuse

    Sometime in 1936 Zuse created the Z1 computer,a the first freely programable computer. This is the one that they called ugly on the video we watched in class!

    The product of a teacher student build between John Vincent Atanasoff and student Cliff Berry, the ABC was one of the first of its era. rumor has it that one of the creators of the ENIAC John Maulchly actually saw the ABSC shortly after it started to work!
  • ENIAC

    John Presper Eckert & John W. Mauchly develop the ENIAC ( Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer) it is a very large computer, but is still a relative of the ones we know today.

    Douglas Engelbart invents and patents the first computer mouse in 1963, it was made of wood and it was nicknamed the mouse for its long mouse tail that came out the end.

    The PDP-8 was the first commercially successful microcomputer. The PDP-8 sold for $18,000, one fifth of the IBM 360 mainframe which sold for $90,000. It was faster, and smaller allowing it to be used in many locations like labs and small buisnesses everywhere.

    The Data General Corp., started by a group of engineers that left the digital equipment corp., introducved the Nove, it came with 32 kilobytes of memory and costed only $8,000. in the picture is the president of the Data general corp, Ed deCastro.

    Designed by Don Lancaster, the TV typewriter provided athe first display of information on an ordinary TV set. It used only $120 of components, and a 90 minute cassette tape provided supplementary storage of around 100 pages.

    The Apple II became an instant success when iat was relased in 1977. It had a printed circuit motherboard, switching power supply, keyboard, case assembly, manual, game paddles, A/C powercord, and cassette tape with the computer game "Breakout."
