    Founding of Jamestown
    When the three boats from the Virgina Company arrived along the west bank of the James River, they then founded Jamestown as the first settlement in the United States. At this new settlement, the first council was elected by King James I. After two weeks of colonization, Jamestown was attacked by local Native Americans which resulted into chaos.

    House of Burgesses
    The House of Burgesses was the first assembly of elected representatives of English colonists in North America. The first meeting began July 30 1619.
  • Founding of Plymouth and Mayflower Compact

    Founding of Plymouth and Mayflower Compact
    A ship called the Mayflower sailed from England planning to arrive in the new world with hopes of having no consequence for being separatists. The pilgrims then went off course and landed in Cape Cod, Massachustes. Thus, Plymouth colony was founded with the first governing document called the Mayflower Compact.

    Founding of the Massachusetts Bay Colony
    Many wealthy and educated English puritans arrived into the Massachusetts Bay Colony in hopes of reaching Jamestown. Instead they formed their own colony and assigned John Winthrop as the first governor.
  • Pequot War

    Pequot War
    Once the Massachusetts Bay Colony was founded, many immigrants expanded to the Conneticut River Valley. The Pequot Tribe oftenly attacked these settlers and started the Pequot War. Eventually, English Puritan troops and and other native american allies burned the Pequot village overnight.

    King Philip’s War
    King Phillips War was caused by Plymouth colony soldiers taking land that belonged to Metacom (Wampanoag Tribal Leader). The peace between the two different communities will end and battles were fought. After three years, the Wampanoag Tribe surrendered under English Rule and was forced to comply.
  • Bacon's Rebellion

    Bacon's Rebellion
    Nathaniel Bacon, member of the Jamestown government council, recruited a small army to attack the local tribes regardless of Govenor Berkeley's oders. Soon after, during a government assebly, he was arrested. Bacon later came back with two armies and attacked parts fo Jamestown.

    Salem Witch Trials
    In the Plymouth colony, nineteen men and women were convicted of "witchcraft". Under English rule, they were forced to be hung at Gallows Hill near Salem Village.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    In 1754, England and France were in war because of a dispute over land. At the end of the war, the British took control of most land owned by french in North America besides Canada.
  • Quatering Act

    Quatering Act
    The Quartering Act was passed by Parliament to address the cocerns with colonial assembly. Each of the basic needs for survival must be available to all soldiers stationed within borders.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act required that many printed materials in the colonies be produced on stamped paper produced in London. These varied from newspapers, magazines, and legal documents.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Boston masscare occured when a mob of patriots gathered together to revolt against British Soldiers. Under pressure, the British soldiers fired upon the patriots and killed/wounded many.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The purpose of the Tea Act was to benefit the British East India Company and save them from financial issues. This Act gave Tea exported from Britain a low price. America took it the wrong way and lead to the events at the Boston Tea Party.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Four laws were passed by English Parliament as a result of colonist behavior. These laws outraged the British colonies which on year later would trigger the American Revolution.

    Boston Tea Party
    When Britain raised taxes on exported tea to the colonies, many were unhappy and parliament conducted a elaborate plan. When the tea arrived from the East India Company, colonists dumped all of the tea into the harbor.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    The Battle of Lexington and Concord were the first military conflicts between Great Britain and the Thirteen colonies. Several battles throughout Massachusetts and sparked the outbreak of open armed conflict.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independance was a document created by Thomas Jefferson stating that each of the independent states were no longer part of the British Empire. Over 56 delegates of the Continental Congress signed the document after the American Revolution.
  • Texas Independence

    Texas Independence
    Texas Gained Independance from Mexico after the the Texas Revolution and became an indivisual country of it's own. Soon after, Mexico still considered Texas part of its territory which led to the Mexican-American War.
  • Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

    Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
    This treaty was created at the end of the Mexican-American War to come to peace with eachtother. The United States also bought California, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, and parts of Colorado as a result of this treaty.
  • Mexican-American War

    Mexican-American War
    The Mexican-American War was fought between the United States and Mexico because of issues with Texas territory. Since Texas became a state, the US decided it would defend it borders and gain land back.
  • Spanish-American War

    Spanish-American War
    The Spanish-American war started when Cuba was fighting for independance from Spain. The US declared war against Spain and battles ocurred in the Phillipines, Puerto Rico, and Guam.
