    First Product HP 200A Audio Oscillator invented by David Packard and Bill Hewlett. This piece of equipment became a popular piece of test equipment. The model 200B was used by Disney as sound effects generators.

    Complex Number Calculator (CNC) FIRST REMOTE ACCESS
    Researcher George Stibitz demonstrates the CNC at the American Mathematical Society Conference usint the first demo of remote access computing via special telephone lines. The group was stunned.

    This project was started in 1943 completed in Feb 1946 the public was introduced to the ENIAC built by John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert. It was imporved by 1000 times in speed in comparison to its contemporaries.
  • ERA 1101 Computer 1950

    The Company's first customer was the U, S. Navy. It held 1 million bits on it's magnetic drum. Drums registered information as magnetic pulses in tracks around a metal cylinder. Drums stored as many as 4,000 words and retrieved any of them in five-thousandths of a second.

    PDP-1 (precursor to the minicomputer)
    The precursor to the minicomputer, DEC´s PDP-1 sold for $120,000. One of 50 built, the average PDP-1 included with a cathode ray tube graphic display, needed no air conditioning and required only one operator. It´s large scope intrigued early hackers at MIT, who wrote the first computerized video game, SpaceWar.

In 1970, PARC attracted some of the United States’ top computer scientists, and produced many groundbreaking inventions that transformed computing—most notably the personal computer graphical user interface, Ethernet, the laser printer, and object-oriented programming. Xerox was unable to market the inventions from PARC but others did, including Steve Jobs

    The Cray model Supercomputer was the fastest machine of the day. It weighed 5 tons and used 150w of electricity. It only had 8MB of RAM and opereated at 80MHz. (jukes & McCain, 1997)

    1981 IBM introduced it’s PC igniting a fast growth of the personal computer market. The first PC ran on a 4.77 MHz Intel 8088 microprocessor and used Microsoft’s MS-DOS operating system.
