    Lanham Act

    A childhood crisis struck once again because of WWII. Men were sent into the armed forces and the women into the workforce, so children ultimately had nowhere to go. The Lanham Act of 1940 was passed by the U.S Congress to establish a childcare program (children had high early education while their parents were working). The Lanham Act expired in 1946 when WWII ended.
