  • Anschluss

    During the February of 1938, Hitler threatened to invade Austria unless Nazis there were given government posts. The Chancellor of Austria agreed to this deal, however he then let the people decide if they should join Germany or not. Hitler invaded Austria before the outcome of the vote, and the "Anschluss"(unification) of Austria and Germany occurred.
  • The Munich Conference

    Hitler continued on to try to take Sudetenland, a German speaking land in Czechoslovakia. The Czechs refused his demands and France, the Soviet Union, and Britain would've fought Germany if they attacked. They met in Munich to negotiate. They eventually gave in to Hitlers demands because they would rather avoid war. The Czechs tried to maintain peace but in the end Germany invaded and divided the country.
  • Hitler Demands Danzig

    1 month after the Munich Conference Hitler continues his conquest and demands the city of Danzig to be in German control. France and Britain knew that war was coming and offered to give aid to Poland if it did come to it. Poland refused his demands and he sent the foreign minister to negotiate with USSR so that they won't have to fight them as well.
  • The Nazi-Soviet Pact

    When the Germany officials presented a treaty to USSR, Stalin agreed because he thought that if Britain and France went into a war with Germany they would be safe. The treaty also contained a secret agreement to divide Poland between Germany and the Soviet Union. Germany invaded Poland. France and Great Britain joined Poland's side and WWII had begun.
  • The Invasion of Poland

    Germany invaded Poland. France and Great Britain joined Poland's side and WWII initiated. The German army was too advanced for Poland's military and they had took over the Polish capital by October.
  • Fall of France

    After taking Poland Germany continued on to attack France. The German were going through the Ardennes Mountain. The French thought that they wouldn't pass through and left the area with less protection. The Germans went through and crushed the French lines. Britain and France were are now trapped in Belgium
