The Austrian Anschluss
Hitler wanted Germany and Austria as one country.He warned that he would invade Austria.Austria's chancellor had accepted Hitler's offer but then tried to order a plebiscite.Hitler wasn't very happy about this and moved German troops in the Austrian border which led to them surrendering. -
The Munich Conference
Hitler wanted to take over Czechoslovakia but France disagreed and had allies supporting them.They all agreed to meet up in Munich to make a decision.France and Britain agreed to the appeasement.The appeasement ended up failing and Czechoslovakia was divided into two. -
Hitler Demands Danzig
After the Munich Conference Hitler wanted the city of Danzig to be under his power.The problem was it belonged to Poland since World War 1.Not only did he want that ,he also wanted a highway built across an area that divided Germany from the German State of East Prussia.Britain and France let Hitler know that if it came down to a war that they would be help Poland out.What worried Hitler was having to fight the Soviets too so he planned to begin making negotiations with the USSR. -
The Nazi Soviet Pact
Stalin agreed to a non-agression treaty that Hitler offered.Many were shocked that a country of Communist and Nazism agreed to the treaty.But no one else knew that the treaty had a secret behind it stating Germany and Soviert Union were planning on dividing Poland. -
The Invasion of Poland
Once Germany invaded Poland immediately Britain and France declared War on them.This begins World War ll.Poland was losing to Germany because of the outdated army they had.Many of Germany machinery was newer like the tanks.By October Poland was in the hands of Germany. -
The Fall of France
Britain backed France up by sending some of their troops there.They waited for the Germans attack behind the Maginot Line.Little did they expect that Hitler went around this line that protected some of France but not all of it.When they found this out that Germany attacked through eastern Belgium they sent very little troops and ended up being trapped din Belgium. -
The Evacuation of Dunkirk
The soldiers had been trapped in Dunkirk France.850 of them were evacuated by ship leaving all of there equipment behind.Hitler help up the army for 3 days which allowed all of this to happen.In total 338,000 British and French troops has been saved and it was called the Miracle at Dunkirk.The French surrendered to Germany -
The Battle of Britain
After France surrendered Germany expected Britain to do the same. Winston gave a powerful speech saying Britain would never give up.Germany first step was to try and defeat the British Royal Air Force.On October 12 1940 Hitler cancelled the invasion.
