    Planning of Double Page Spread
Having carefully researched layout designs for double page spreads using magazines such as Top of the Pops as a guide for inspiration, I used this article concerning Kristen Stewart to help me costruct my own double page spread.

  • Written Content

    Written Content
Similarily I decided to include a breif introduction to provide readers with some background information on singer Diana Vickers. The written content involves an element of light heartedness and also humour. However, it appears more as a conversation as opposed to a formal interview. The language is largley informal as my target audience is young females, it would be innapropriate to use very formal language.
  • Interview

    Interview
X Factor was what shot Diana to early fame, so it was important to include a question discussing how her life had changed since the show. It will also demonstrate to other young girls, that it is a great platform for ambitious singers aspiring to reach the same success as Diana. In order for the audience to fully connect with Diana, I decided to ask who her own singing inspirations were and where her ambition to be a singer came from.

Young girls build their dreams of becoming singers on the inspiration they get from celebrities like Diana Vickers. By consulting Diana on her recent success it builds a gradual picture in the audiences mind of how she has progressed. Also by asking what we can expect from her new album the audience can builds high hopes for Diana’s future.
  • Graphic Features

    Graphic Features
Graphic features were necessary in mainting the interest of my target audience, preventing them from becoming bored and to make the spread more visually interesting. All the models used in the graphic features represent the stereotypical white skinned, youthful and beautiful image. It is important to maintain this idealistic image of perfection as this is a common convention used in music magazines like Smash hits. Young girls will aspire to this image and use it as a guide as to how to look.

Similar to the top of the pops article, I also wanted to use a large graphic feature of the celebrity featured e.g. Diana Vickers in order for the audience to identify with her, so I placed an image of her onto my double page spread, making her one of the most predominant features. Other ideas which I used to create my own double page spread included using shapes such as hearts and lines to seperate big chunks of texts in order to maintain the interest of my target audience.

I also choose to use colours like pink and purple as these will appeal to young females. Colours like pink are also vibrant enough to catch the readers eye. In addition these colours also fit in with my house style seen in both my contents and front cover.
