Nelson Mandela goes to school Africans only. It is rare for African to finish High School but his Uncle thinks education is important Nelson attends school with his friend Justice.

Uncle Jonghi wants Nelson and Justice to marry and he chose a wife for them. Justice and Nelson ran away to Johannesburg with his friend Justice. Johannesburg is the capital of South Africa. It is a big and Rich city with many gold mines. Most black people live in township. Township do not have running water or electricity. The road was made of dirt and dust. Nelson Mandela lived in a township called Alexandra.

Nelson Mandela becomes friends with Walter Sisulu. At the Sisulus house he meets Evelyn Mase and marry. He has 4 children (3 survives.)

Nelson Mandela joins the ANC (African National Congress). He helps create the youth league. The youth league plans to organize peaceful protest against discrimination and segregation.

The Government of South Africa start to pass the Apartheid law. It separates South Africa in 3 groups: White, Coloured and Black.

The police shoots peaceful protester in Shapeville. 69 people died and hundreds of people injured. The Government bans the ANC.

Nelson Mandela is arrested when he comes back to South Africa under a false name.

Nelson Mandela goes to Prison for 27 years.

After 27 years in prison, Nelson Mandela is released. He goes back to live in Soweto in Johannesburg and gets to meet his family and friends

This time everyone can vote. Nelson Mandela is elected president of South Africa. He does not seek revenge but tries to make a new South Africa where everyone has rights.
