Franklin discovered that you can not crystalize DNA, but you can get different types of DNA fibers. The fibers gave two different distinct diffraction patterns. They showed the basic structure of DNA, and would later be used to make the 3-D model of DNA. -

Alfred Hershey and Martha Chase confirmed that DNA is a genetic material. Prior to that, it was believed DNA carried proteins. -
