Anthony Johnson was an African indentured servant along with his wife Mary. Anthony’s original name was Antonio but he adopted the English ways and converted to a Catholicism then become a Protestant.

He was practicly free and equal to Englishmen

At this time, it seems that Africans had fairness. This shows progress in Anthony’s life.

    These series of diminishing progress events caused centuries and slaves being the lowest social status where ever they have slaves. Even when the laws said African and whites are equal, they were never equal until the Africans revolted. They let it go to far and it hurt them for a long time. It was caused just because the slave owners were scared that the slaves would revolt... and the English were depended on them.
