  • Creation of the Bleriot XI

Created by Louis Bleriot, the Bleriot XI was the first airplane with an engine after the Wright brothers had created their model of the glider. Bleriot's creation was known as a tractor monoplane. This meaning that the aircraft's blades were tractor propellers which sat in front of the plane facing forward. Since the blades were facing forward they pulled the plane through the air compared to having the blades facing backwards and pushing the airplane like today's models.
