Development Schedule

  • Come up with an original game idea

At this stage you need to make decisions about your game including things such as who your target audience is, what kind of game your creating and what genre it fits in. Content such as mind maps and mood boards will be created at this time along with meetings to refine the game idea.
  • Developing the concept

Once the idea has been refined a more in depth document will need to be created to explain the complexities and content about the game. The game mechanics and basic ruleset will be thought about as well as things such as setting and aesthetics. Technology and how the users interact with the game/mechanics will also need to be thought about.
  • Design

Designing the aesthetics including characters, background, settings and overall theme will happen at this stage. Usually starting as concept art in drawing or sketch form and then progressed and developed into proper 3d models on Pc
  • Develop

At this stage programmers will take the concept of the game and transform it into playable content based on the specifications. Things such as creating the core game play and implementing AI are done along with adding the skins and aesthetics to the game. This process can be a long one but ultimately it's the most important and is the cor production process
  • Testing

Testing will happen once the game reaches a playable point and will continue all the way through Alpha and Beta models until full release. The job of testing is to validate the quality of game play and deciding if the game meets it's purpose (usually being if it's fun to play). Debugging and finding glitches in the game mechanics also happens and then can be corrected by the programmers/developers before public release.
  • Release

The game will be released onto various web stores including the app store and android market for the public to download and enjoy
  • Post-production marketing

This is the process of optimising sales and downloads by creating a marketing campaign to get people to be aware of the game. Things such as mobile and you tube adverts are very common and great ways to demonstrate the game to a wider audience
