    Fredrick Taylor proposed the Scientific Mangaement threroy in 1913. This functional theory helps us make sure communication works through every department. This theory is task oriented.   • Hawthorne Effect

    The Hawthorne Effect is a meaning centered theory that focusses on physical variables that can be changed and it helps to improve productivity because employees are being listend to. The human relations department within an organization helps us shift from work to employee concern and interest. This theory helps to fufill desires or needs of workers to help them work better.
  • Principles of Buraucracy

    Max Weber developed the Principles of Buraucracy theory in 1947. This functional theory helps us unerstand rules and regulations of an organization. It gives you a way of functioning or way of processing throughout an organization. The for and structure of an organization is seen through different departments. I.E. Human Relations Department.

    Theory X is based on rewards and punishment from others in the company towards one person who needs a little help with their work.
    Theory Y is based on self-motivated workers who can work completly on their own. Employees in a company need little help to get work done on their own and reieve rewards because of it.

    Rensis Likert proposed the participitive management theory. this meaning centerd theory focuses on the more participation and voice there is from supervisors or leaders the more motivation there is from the employees or followers. When a supervisor encourages and talks positivly to an employee they will work harder to fulfull their tasks.
  • Critical Theory

    Karl Marx developed the Critical thoery. This theory is categorized under the function perspective. This thoory shows us how power and political relationships affect organizations. This theory can be used in the example of union compaies on how management interacts with employees and the power and equality they have within them.
  • Postmodern Perspectives

    Stewart Clegg proposed this emerging theory which focuses on power and domination in the workplace when a supervidor or leader is in control. They will try to take charge of everything and as a leader in a company they will nott allow followers to accomplish tasks on their own and tries to control everything about what they are doing.
  • Feminist Organization

    Marta Calas and Linda Smircich proposed this emerging theory. It looks at how male and female are viewed from different perspectives. Male and females both have specific roles but can both do specific jobs if asked. Different sexes work differently and projects done by ether sex may turn out different if you ask a male and female to complete the same task.
