    The living conditions and economy were great. All the stocks were rising, new inventions were popping out left and right like credit and the dishwasher. There was no worry in the world.

    The stock market crashed. It was the biggest crash to date. People were buying stocks on margin and then were not able to pay back the brokers.
  • It got really dusty

    The dust bowl happened, walls of dust were friggin going across the great plains all the way to NYC. All the dust arose due to poor farming practices by the new unexperienced farmers in the great plains.

    The drought that starts the dust bowl hits. It spans over 23 states from the Mississippi into the Mid-Atlantic. The worst drought to strike in 300 years.

    The hoover dam is a dam on the border of Nevada & Arizona. It holds back the Colorado river. It is made out of 4,360,000 cubic yards of concrete which was a new material being used in the world. It took 5 years to finish the construction with it ending in 1936.

    The largest bank crash in the United States, 200 million dollars, and they can do nothing about it. The customers are the ones who are stuck in debt.

    Roosevelt was elected president, defeated Herbert Hoover by a landslide. Lasted four terms in office, he held office the longest compared to every other president. He is the reason for the 22nd amendment, after holding 4 consecutive terms in office.

    The unemployment rate reaches 24.9%, a record high in the United States. Still the record high to this day.

    FDR plan to get the economy back on track is launched. The new deals enact new agencies to over see specific parts the economy and life. Regulating things from banks to farming to keep the US out off another depression ever again.

    Black Sunday
    Black Sunday was the largest dust storm to hit during the dust bowl. It pushed FDR to pass the Soil Conservation Act which taught farmers how to properly practice farming techniques that will maintain the land for many more years once it comes back.

    Huey Long is assassinated inside the Louisiana Capital building.

    Roosevelt tried to add 5 more justices tithe Supreme Court to make it so his new programs under his new deal. He was going to rid of checks and balances of the supreme court of him because they would be chosen by him.

    With the start of the war for the U.S and after all the supplies that were "leased" to the allied forces called for many factories to be restarted. Also "cash & carry" helped the economy get a boost back into the good.

    The attack that sprung the U.S into WWII, a Japanese attack on a United States military bases that is in the Islands of Hawaii. This allowed President Roosevelt to finally join the war after his many attempts to help the allied troops anyway possible.

    The end of WWII was a good thing for the U.S. The main event that brought the United States out of the Great Depression. Allowed for wartime factories to be filled, giving the families at home money giving a nice boost to the economy. Without the war the depression could have went on for another 15 years.
